The Lincoln Library Press Wins Prestigious Publishing Award
The Lincoln Library Press has won the Benjamin Franklin 2006 Award™ for its 5-volume encyclopedia, The Lincoln Library of Greek & Roman Mythology. The award, sponsored by the Publishers Marketing Association, was presented during a gala awards ceremony in Washington, D.C., on May 17, 2006, just prior to the opening of BookExpo America, publishing’s largest annual event.
Named in honor of America’s most cherished publisher/printer, the Benjamin Franklin Award™ recognizes excellence in independent publishing. The 2006 winners were selected by top practitioners in each field from more than 5,000 entries, grouped by genre.
The Lincoln Library of Greek & Roman Mythology, edited by Timothy and Susan Gall, presents 500 entries, illustrated in full color with reproductions of paintings, photography, maps, and original drawings. School districts and public library systems in the Greater Cleveland area have added this resource, which supports English and Social Studies curriculum standards in most states, to their collections. Sales of the title are brisk to libraries across the country from Maine to California.
The Lincoln Library Press also reports that The Lincoln Library of Greek & Roman Mythology was named to the much-watched Pennsylvania School Librarians’ Association list of “2006 Top 10 References.” The annotation reads “very thorough and user-friendly A-Z listing of over 500 gods, goddesses, heroes, places, and other important mythology references.”
